There are many reasons that people turn to window security bars but in the end it all comes down to one thing-increasing the safety of their property, be it in the home or for business. Some reasons for using them may appear obvious but others may not be so self evident.

In areas with high crime rates, business or home window security bars can reduce the risk of your property falling victim to crime by preventing people from being able to get in, even if they break the window. This does of course require that they are correctly installed, as incorrectly installed bars may be ineffective. But this doesn’t just apply after dark or when the property is empty.

Increasingly burglaries are occurring in daylight, and in fact it is becoming more commonly reported that people are moving from one room in their house to another to find that an intruder has broken in whilst they are still at home. Entry is easily gained through open windows-but that does not mean that one has to suffer the heat of summer without so much as an open window.

Security bars for windows mean in this case that the windows may be opened for ventilation without the risk of lowering your security. In a dwelling with ground floor windows this is especially important.

Families can benefit from an another element of the protection that home window security bars give. When you have small children, open windows pose a danger, especially on the higher floors of a building. Children leaning out of a window may fall, with potentially disastrous results. Installing bars on the windows prevents falls whilst not impairing the function of the window.

There are also adjustable window security bars that expand and lock at the chosen size to make them easy to fit in a variety of window sizes. Another type of adjustable window security bar, rather than preventing entry through a window, will keep it from being opened. The bar is fitted to the top part of a sash window, expanded and locked into place which completely stops the lower portion of the window being raised. Removal is easy from the inside when not in use, but it is impossible to remove from the outside by jarring or otherwise attempting to displace.

Window security bars are not highly visible from the outside if net curtains are used, but can provide hugely increased peace of mind for the home or business owner.
