Comfortable Cushioning Foam Makes Your Cushion Perfect
Have you ever tried sitting on something, a chair or sofa perhaps, that doesn’t have any cushion? If you have, then you should know how uncomfortable it is. To be honest with you, I can’t figure out how people have managed to be comfortable in chairs without some sort of soft padding. A soft cushion is the main element that make sitting or resting enjoyable.
Cushion covers are what make cushions pretty and attractive. You can probably say that the foam is the function of the cushion but the covering is the form. No sense in promoting one style over the other as home decor is a personal preference. What we can do though is cover how to care for your cushion covers.
How to Clean Cushion Covers
Cushion covers are particularly delicate, especially those that have embroidery on them. Throwing them in your washing machine may not only ruin the embroidery, but the cloth as well. The best way to wash covers is to do it slowly by hand. Rubbing the cloth lightly over a small wash board slowly will clean the material, but it won’t do any damage to it. Also remember to use mild soap, rather than harsh detergents which may fade the color in the long run. Don’t use the dryer when you’re done with washing. Wiring and hang them somewhere that is not exposed to direct sunlight so it won’t be crisp when it gets dry. You might also want to wash your covers once every about thirty or sixty days. Leaving them unwashed for a long time might make the dirt harder to wash off.
Rotating A Cushion Makes it Last Longer
Another thing that I would like to share with everybody is how to take care of the cushions itself. These soft pads are generally used for chairs, and they take all the weight of anybody who sits on them. These things may eventually sag from too much use, and one way to prolong its life is to rotate its position every once in a while. When actually sitting, only a portion of the pad is actually used, which why it tends to sag. As mentioned above, its good to also clean your pillows at least once a month. One way to clean it without actually drenching it in water is to dip a sponge in detergent then wiping the pad’s surface with it. You would then need to dip another sponge in clean water and wipe the detergent off the pillow. Leave them under the sun to dry off.
