“Best” is a relative term and we realize that air purifier fanatics will no doubt disagree with most of what we say here. The bottom line for us is finding and sharing with you some decent air purifiers that are good for allergies that can be purchased online and at a relatively inexpensive cost without having to listen to a sales pitch from somebody. A good quality air cleaner and purifier is going to improve air quality if you are asthmatic, allergic to pollen and dust, are around heavy smoking, or if you have bad sinus problems during different seasons. A few years back, people had no choices available to them that were easy to find and maintain. Today, there are a lot of options on the market and they cover all price ranges. Essentially all these machines are used to filter and remove allergens from air from different elements, but mostly from smoke; pollen and dust. Here are a couple of air purifiers that we liked and found at reasonable prices.

HONEYWELL COMPACT AIR PURIFIER WITH PERMANENT HEPA FILTER

The HHT- 001 is a solid air purifier for alleviating allergies in people with small spaces. The whole unit only measures 10 x 6 x 11 inches, and it can fit on a small desk or under it. This model’s filtration system is made up of a permanent HEPA filter, a washable pre- filter and an optional ionizer. Because of these, owners don’t have to spend more money buying filters once it needs to be changed. Though this is a very quiet machine, a lot of consumers complained that it gets noisy after some time. Some have even sent their units back, although this is more due to lack of quality control and not mainly due to the product’s design.

Surround Air XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro Air Purifier

This product may be on the expensive side at $194.80, but this is one of the best air purifiers for allergies that we’ve seen. First off, it uses a seven air- filtering technology which does a great job in filtering the pollen, allergens, and other air-borne dust and smoke in your home. It’s also very quiet, making it a favorite among a lot of households—especially those with babies. A lot of people seem to love the fact that the machine detects elements such as bacteria or odor, show it on the screen, then switch to the best mode for it. The problem with this is that it might automatically switch to “odor” mode even when there’s still a lot of dust in the air, and you can’t manually switch it back. The owner’s inability to switch the modes is the only thing that we don’t really like about this, and we still consider this the best air purifier for allergies we’ve ever encountered. Its rated a solid 4.5 stars on Amazon.com Check it out here
