Plastering is a method used in construction of buildings a few centuries back. It deals with the application of plaster, which is almost similar to cement. In order to do plastering successfully, there are a number of plastering tools an aspiring plasterer needs. Many times beginner plasterers can purchase a plastering toolkit which includes many if not all of the tools needed to accomplish the job.  Below are various  names of plastering tools and their purposes.

Plastering Tools – The Plaster Mixer

While not necessary for small plastering jobs, this is much needed for big projects. This is used for preparing the plaster mix, and to make sure that it has the correct consistency and smoothness.

Plastering Tools -Darby

A darby is commonly made from aluminum or wood, and is one of the most important plastering tools. It is approximately 1.5m long, and comes with an adjustable handle right on the top. This is used for achieving a level finish between two points when a hand trowel cannot be used.

Plastering Tools -Feather Edge

When a really smooth finish is required, then a feather edge tool would be most useful. Aluminum is the most common material used for this tool, and is usually 2m long. The feather edge is tapered along one side, so that it can be used for passing along a coating making it ready for the next stage. This technique leaves the surface flat, leaving a smooth surface.

Plastering Tools -Hawk

In plastering, one of the things that you would repeatedly do is transferring plaster from the trowel into a spot board or a bucket. In order for you to do this, you would need to use a hawk. Plastic hawks are commonly used by amateur plasters while professionals usually use one made from magnesium or carbon steel.

Plastering Tools -Plastering Trowel

Many plastering trowel models have pre- worn edges, which allows it to carry out plastering without leaving marks or lines. It is usually made from stainless- steel, which is also a very durable material. Although a trowel can be a little expensive compared to other tools, some plasterers takes time to wearing a new plastering trowel in order for it to produce a smooth finish.
