Enjoying Your Patio Umbrella Lights

Outdoor Lighting with Patio Umbrella Lights

Patio furniture is often one of the highlights of any outdoor patio. Without it, there’s obviously nowhere to sit and relax. Aside from providing comfort, this furniture also provides convenience. Many time chairs, lounges or tables are specially crafted to hold drinks, food, and in general just make your patio a little like your living room. One of the important parts of any outdoor experience is the mood that is created. Patio umbrella lights are a recent invention that has happened in the past few years and they can really add quite a bit of charm and delight to an evening spent outdoors. Essentially, patio umbrella lights are lighting units that “wrap” around the pole part of the umbrella and can easily be attached and detached.

Solar or Rechargeable Patio Umbrella Lights?

They look real cool, and they enable you to enjoy the patio when the sun begins to set and dusk sets in. The big question though is: what type of backyard patio lights for your umbrella should you buy?  Solar umbrella lights exist on the marketplace but frankly we don’t find them very bright or reliable.

Our experience has found that the best patio lights for umbrellas happen to be LED lights that have rechargeable battery units attached to them.

Appealing, Functional, and Inexpensive
By using patio umbrella lights, you get to enjoy your outdoor area with friends and family even at night. These lights come in different types, such as the string type which can be connected to the umbrella’s ribs. This is the subtle type, and are recommended for just adding mood type lighting more than anything else.  The other type of light is as we mentioned at the outset…one that can be attached to the umbrella’s pole.  It actually adds value as a “real” light and is more ideal for reading or dining. The great thing about these lights is that they are economical. Aside from the fact that they don’t cost much, they also do not use a lot of energy. Some are even battery- operated which means you don’t have to use electricity for them.

LED Patio Umbrella Lights

Most patio umbrella lights use LED bulbs, which actually offer an advantage. First, they don’t get hot which means they won’t burn anything including your children’s hands. LED lights also do not attract insects, which I think is one of their biggest advantages. We all know how annoying bugs and insects are, and they are plenty of them around at night too. Insects are easily attracted to incandescent light and yet seem to not be interested in LED bulbs.   Bottom line is that you can enjoy the night without insects flying around you. Finally, another advantage of LED lights is that they last longer than ordinary bulbs. Light bulbs don’t really last long, especially if you use them outdoors. This is so different from LED lights, which are proven to last as much as  twice as long as regular light bulbs– even when used outside. Most patio umbrella lights use LED, but not all, which is why it’s important that you check the label before buying the lights.
