When you need to darken a room or find a way to block out nosy neighbors, cheap mini blinds are a great alternative to resorting to ugly pull shades or expensive curtain sets. Mini blinds are made from a number of narrow strips that are attached together by a string system. The string is what holds them together and gives them the ability to be raised and lowered as needed. Most blinds also have the ability to be turned so that the amount of light that is allowed through is adjustable.
For a long time, the only material that blinds were made from was aluminum. The metal rather limited the colors and textures that were available so the results was rather bland and humdrum. Cheap aluminum mini blinds are still available and still remain an option but most people will quickly cover them with a more attractive window covering. They do work quite well with more spartan styles such as the modern industrial look.
Another option would be cheap plastic mini blinds. These are able to be in a much greater variety of colors as the pigment can be added directly as the plastic is created so will be a solid color throughout the slat. The problem with plastic blinds is that they not only are inexpensive but they quite often look cheap, too. They aren’t so bad if you are careful and select a better manufacturer but they are not as durable as you may want. The plastic scratches easily and discolors from time and sun exposure.
One of the newer options available is to try cheap vinyl mini blinds. Vinyl blinds can be made to recreate almost any kind of material to give a nicer look to an otherwise bland window. If you look around, you can find them priced for only a few dollars each so it is definitely an economical choice in window treatments.
As you can see, inexpensive window blinds come in a good variety of materials, colors and even textures in the case of vinyl. Whether you just need a quick solution to blocking the sunlight and adding privacy or you want to add a bit of color to your color scheme, you can find a blind to suit your needs and not break the bank. Whether you decide on classic aluminum, colorful plastic or textured vinyls, you can easily find something that will work with your décor no matter what room you use them in.
