Faux Window Blinds Can Be A Quick And Easy Temporary Window Treatment

Everyone knows what window blinds are and what they do but if you are thinking that they come in only plain jane metal or plastic, think again.  Today’s window coverings have come a long way, both in styles available and the technology used to make them.  Most people use window blinds underneath curtains or drapes, mostly to stop glare and increase home privacy.  These days, however, there are faux blinds that are so far removed from the aluminum blinds of yesteryear as to be a whole new breed of window treatment.

Faux blinds are often created to look like wood.  Wood is always a décor enhancer and comes in a huge variety of colors and grains to match anyone’s tastes.  The two problems with real wood blinds is the expense and the environmental impact.  To be durable, the woods used should be hardwoods which are not easily or quickly renewable.  This makes them much more expensive than metal as well as having a harmful impact on the environment.

Faux wooden blinds, on the other hand, can be made to look like just about any wood that there is.  Since these are made with either vinyl or a pvc composite (often mixed with real wood waste products), they are both a much more economical and eco-friendly option compared to real wood.  The highest quality of faux wood blinds run about 30% less cost to purchase than real wood while cheap faux wood blinds can be as little as half the price of the real thing.

Being greener and cheaper are not the only advantages to using faux blinds in your window treatments.  Due to the nature of the materials used to create the blinds, they are so much more durable than wood and much easier to maintain.  They will not be affected by changes in humidity and you don’t have to worry about water damage.  Maintenance is a breeze as a simple dusting regularly with an occasional swipe with a damp rag will keep your faux blinds looking great for many years to come.faux-blinds

When deciding on your home décor and the window coverings that will tie into that decor, consider looking at some faux wood blinds that can enhance the style and appearance of any room while being kind to your budget and the environment.  Not only will you be getting a great look, you will also have easy care and minimal maintenance to deal with.
