All pools must be kept clean, and to achieve this you will need a combination of pool chemicals as well as perform some kind of mechanical cleaning on your pool. This could be automatic or you can do it yourself.
The chemicals that you use are generally anti-microbial as well as anti-fungicide. They will be used to retard bacterial growth as well as fungal growth, and additional chemicals will be used to maintain the PH of the water at a level that is safe for human skin. Yet even with chemicals in your water you will end up with other contaminants-larger particles such as grit and leaves, as well as the build up of algae in the water.
Also there is still a chance that fungi will start to grow on the walls of the pool, where circulation of the water may be less efficient. Vinyl lined pools may have seams that provide the perfect place for fungi to grow, and concrete pools have porous walls that harbor fungi too. All of this must be scrubbed off.
Your swimming pool cleaning can be done manually, with you scrubbing the walls with a brush and using a pool vacuum to remove grit and dead fungi from the bottom of the pool. Your pump and skimmer will remove the leaves and grass and other large particles.
Cleaning the pool yourself can be a time consuming and dull job, which the use of a swimming pool cleaner can alleviate. These cleaners are generally a small machine which crawls all over the floor of your pool, and they have a built in vacuum to remove the debris that they scrub off the floor and the walls of your pool. An automatic pool cleaner such as the Polaris pool cleaner will allow you to keep your pool clean easily and efficiently whilst not having to lose time to do it yourself.
Polaris pool cleaners come in a number of models for both above and in ground pools. Some automatic pool cleaners are not suitable for some types of pool-for instance the more delicate nature of a vinyl pool liner requires a swimming pool cleaner that is delicate enough that it will not damage the liner. A concrete lined pool on the other hand will require much tougher cleaning, needing more scrubbing to clean its porous surface.
An automatic pool cleaner may be considered by many to be an essential item in the timely and safe maintenance of your family pool.
