I remember when I was a bit younger than I am now. I was about 23 and I went on a camping trip with my Dad. It was interesting to say the least. Nothing stayed cold, nothing stayed warm, and to use the “facilities” meant to take a walk over the hill. Right then and there, I figured out how much I love the conveniences of modern day living and the little things in life like home appliances. Everything from refrigerators, stoves, coffee makers and yes even the “not really an appliance” flushing toilet.
Home appliances come in many varieties and perform countless functions around the home. Simply put, they make your life and my life much, much easier. I didn’t want to leave out other types of appliances so some other ones include washing machines, dishwashers, washers and dryers, stoves, ovens, ice makers, humidifiers and microwave ovens. If you really stop to think about it, most of these things get regular use every single day. And if you’re under the age of about 100 years old, you no doubt were raised surrounded by many of these home aides and have come to rely on them to perform vital tasks that must be done in any home on a regular basis. In fact I was surprised to learn that the first electric powered washing machine was invented in 1908. Pretty amazing.
Most homeowners will tell you that every well-run and modern home today should have the latest appliances to make easy work of the most mundane household chores. A home appliance is any apparatus that you have in your home that makes life easier or more comfortable. Most of us take these everyday devices for granted-we toss our clothing into the washing machine, open the fridge to take out an ice cold beverage and cook our daily meals without giving any of those actions much thought at all. We very seldom think of how important the appliance is that we are using at the time. But most of us do know, due to bad luck or misfortune, that we are virtually lost when there is a power failure for any extended period of time or when one of these common domestic machines goes on the blink. The truth be told, there are very few of us who could endure just a couple of days without our trusted refrigerator or the washer/dryer set we have in our utility room. I know I’m firmly in that group myself.
So treat your appliances well, take care of them, and never take them for granted. You’ll know just how much you appreciate the if you ever find yourself without them.
Having well functioning appliances are absolutely necessary. If you happen to have any appliance in your home that is not functioning properly or is outdated, then it would be a wise decision to do a little online research to find out more about choosing the right home appliance to suit your needs.
