When shopping for a swimming pool you have many choices to make, including whether the pool you choose will be inground or above ground, the size that you wish your pool to be, and the type of pool that you wish to purchase. One of those options is the purchase of fiberglass swimming pools.
All pools have their pros and cons, and fiberglass swimming pools are no different. The biggest pro is the fact that they are so relatively maintenance free.

All pools need cleaning on a regular basis, but the one piece construction of a fiberglass swimming pool makes cleaning easy. There are no places for algae to hide and grow unlike vinyl liner pools and the smooth sides means that the pool only needs a regular sweep-quick and easy to do. Concrete pools with their porous sides need regular scrubbing and even then the algal accumulation on the sides means that more chemicals are needed. The plaster used in making the pool also reacts with the water, increasing the PH and requiring that more acid is used to balance it. This increases costs in testing as well as in chemicals needed.
Fiberglass swimming pool prices vary depending upon the size and the design of the pool and the features that you wish to have included. For a decent sized, shaped pool you may be looking around $9000 or more, but for a smaller, less exotic looking pool the price may be considerably less.
Fiberglass swimming pools cost around the same amount for the initial installation as a comparable concrete pool may do, yet over the course of the lifetime of the pool the cost is considerably less. The concrete pool would need regular renovation at periods of no more than around ten years, involving re-lining or tiling and this can cost a great deal. Vinyl liner pools too need a lot of work, with the liner needing to be replaced often even if well cared for-and it if treated roughly or it it experiences an accident then a tear may require repair or replacement much quicker. The cost of water to fill the pool adds to the cost of work.
And inground fiberglass swimming pool will need little work on the other hand and will last a very long time. This brings the lifetime costs of the pool down to considerably less than either of the alternatives, and when you consider the other positives of owning fiberglass swimming pools, it makes it a very attractive option.
