The majority of children just love to jump on a trampoline and it is good fun for adults too. Their safety is vastly increased by your buying a trampoline with enclosure rather than one without. In recent years the number of accidents that result in injuries on trampolines has increased drastically, and the majority of these occur on trampolines that do not have an enclosure.
The purpose of a trampoline with safety enclosure is to prevent the person who is jumping from falling off. The enclosure is normally a strong mesh, and it is attached to an external frame work that extends a good distance above the bed of the trampoline. At the bottom, it is attached to the pads that surround the springs, to prevent feet or other body parts from slipping through. If the child falls, they fall into the net and are kept inside rather than falling to the floor, or falling into the metal frame of the trampoline where they may be hurt.

An 8ft trampoline with enclosure is the cheapest size that is nicely functional for an adult. Although smaller models will suffice, they won’t have the same room or same potential for enjoyment as a jumper may be restricted to merely vertical jumping rather than being able to learn the more acrobatic and difficult manoeuvres. For this reason the 8ft trampoline with enclosure has become the most common model purchased as it is big enough to enjoy and yet not so big as to overwhelm the garden that it is put in.
There are however many sizes available. The next size up is a 10ft trampoline with enclosure and there are also 12ft and 14ft trampolines available, and they come in both round and rectangular designs, the latter most suited to those who wish to become serious about the sport. The size that you choose will depend upon your needs, your current ability when it comes to trampolines and how many bouncers you wish to have on it at any one time. Buying a larger trampoline will allow your family some growing room.
Jumping on a trampoline is wonderful aerobic exercise for people of all ages and abilities and is low impact on the joints as the trampoline absorbs most of the impact. But owning a trampoline with a safety enclosure is a real joy because of the additional peace of mind that it brings in knowing that your bouncers are kept safer from falls.
