Is an Undermount Bathroom Sink The Right Choice?

Undermount Bathroom Sink vs. A Traditional Bathroom Sink

The sink is an important part of the bathroom. This is where we wash our hands, where we check how we look, and this is often where we do our make up (as most sink areas have mirrors as well). The importance of bathroom sinks can be be seen in bathrooms with two sinks for the husband and the wife. While some people may wonder why we need to spend money having two sinks installed instead of one, those of us who fight for sink rights every morning well understand why– because sinks are much cheaper than divorce.

While there was only one type of sinks a few centuries ago, modern architecture has developed several we can choose from. There’s the wall mounted, the pedestal, vessel, framed, drop- in, cabinet style and the undermount sink. Among all of these, the undermount bathroom sink is my favorite. Here are the reasons why:

Undermount Bathroom Sinks Provide More Counter Space

Being a woman, I have a need to use several types of cosmetics everyday. I have to start my morning with the typical skin regimen, which could take a few bottles and jars of skin care products. With an undermount bathroom sink sitting on the bottom of the counter, I can just lay out all of these products and do my thing.

An Undermount Bathroom Sink – Easier to Clean?

One of the biggest problem with bathroom sink are dirt and particles. I just hate having to wipe them away, but I don’t have to think about that with an undermount sink. With this type of sink, most dirt and particles falls directly on the sink and just gets washed away. No need to wipe them off the counter. Simple.

Since undermount sinks sits under the surface of the counter, there’s no seal around the base to clean. You know how a traditional sink’s base gathers dirt where it meets the countertop? That doesn’t happen with an undermount sink, which also means you don’t have anything to clean!

Undermount Bathroom Sink- Simple and Elegant

The minimalist look is very big these days, and an undermount bathroom sink is just an example of this look. This type of sink has a basin fitting underneath the countertop, which gives the sink a unique look. With no frilly edges surrounding it, this sink is a piece of elegance indeed. There are several materials used for this sink, and you can buy one made from metal, glass or virteous china. It is only necessary to choose the right material for the sink to match the overall look of your bathroom, as each piece is sophisticated enough no matter what they are made from.
